Since their formation in the 1970s, Somerset Rural Training Group and West Somerset Training Group have evolved from providing training services to agriculture, under the auspices of the now defunct Agricultural Training Board, (ATB), to offering short, high quality training courses to individuals and small groups of trainees, in a wide variety of differing subjects in land based and associated industries.
Typically, our client base includes the farming community, parish, local and district councils, charitable organisations involved with wildlife and the environment, horticultural and arboricultural activities.
Training is conducted throughout Somerset and other parts of the South West.
Our aim is to provide professional practical courses which are tailored to meet the requirements of our clients at local venues and as near as possible, at times to suit their needs.
All courses are run to standards set by professional training bodies such as LANTRA and CITB to satisfy current Health and Safety Legislative requirements.
The Awarding Bodies offering certificates of competence may include LANTRA Awards, Construction Plant Competence Scheme, (CPCS), the National Proficiency Test Council, (NPTC) and The Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene, (RIPHH). In the case of more specialist training requirements other Awarding Bodies may be used.
Training Organiser Sue Jefferies has been arranging training courses since 1988. She is responsible for the day to day running of the groups. Sue is an Approved Lantra Training Provider and with a large number of experienced professional trainers to draw from, the Groups are able to offer training to satisfy almost every training need.
