The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to have adequate arrangements for first aid and lay down procedures for dealing with emergencies. At least one person must be appointed and trained to take charge of first aid arrangements.

Related to these are the requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.

This course is the minimum training recommended for appointed first aiders in the workplace.
