Health and safety in the workplace is regulated by law through the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 requires employers to identify and avoid the risk of injury from manual handling operations.
Related to these are the requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995. (RIDDOR)
